When people talk about skin rejuvenation, they are not always talking about changing the shape of their face. Sometimes the thing that is bothering you is not a line or a bit of volume loss. It is the quality of your skin itself. The texture feels rough. The skin looks dull, tired, or dehydrated. Fine lines are there but they are not deep. You just want your skin to look healthier and more alive.
Skin rejuvenation treatments are designed specifically for this. Rather than adding volume or relaxing muscles, they work at a cellular level to improve the underlying health and quality of the skin. The results are subtler than fillers or anti-wrinkle treatment, but for many patients they are just as meaningful. A genuine improvement in skin texture, hydration, and radiance can make a significant difference to how you look and feel.
At SJ Dental & Facial Aesthetics in Heanor, Derbyshire. Dr Shraddha Jagani offers two of the most advanced skin rejuvenation treatments currently available: skin boosters and polynucleotides. Both are injectable treatments, and both are delivered with the same level of care and precision that Dr Jagani brings to all her work.
Skin boosters are injectable treatments containing hyaluronic acid that is designed specifically for deep hydration rather than volume. Unlike dermal fillers, which are used to shape and contour the face, skin boosters deliver moisture directly into the dermis, the deeper layer of the skin, where it can have a lasting effect on skin quality.
The hyaluronic acid in skin boosters is specially formulated to integrate into the skin tissue and attract and retain water over time. The result is skin that is genuinely more hydrated, more plump, and more radiant from within. Patients often describe their skin as looking brighter and feeling smoother after a course of treatment.
Skin boosters can be used on the face, around the eyes, the neck, and the decolletage. They are a particularly popular choice for the neck and chest area, which tends to show signs of ageing and sun damage but is often overlooked when people are thinking about aesthetic treatments. The under-eye area, which is notoriously difficult to treat and prone to dehydration, also responds well to skin boosters.
At SJ dental & Facial aesthetics we offer premium options including Restylane, Profihlo, SkinVive, Lumi eyes and Redensity1. The most suitable product and protocol is carefully selected during your consultation based on your skin concerns, treatment area, and goals.
Polynucleotides, sometimes abbreviated to PDRN, are one of the most talked-about treatments in medical aesthetics right now. They represent a step forward from skin boosters in terms of what they can achieve for skin health. Where skin boosters primarily deliver hydration, polynucleotides work at a deeper, regenerative level.
Polynucleotides are derived from purified salmon or trout DNA, which is highly biocompatible with human tissue. They work by stimulating fibroblast activity in the skin. Fibroblasts are the cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin. When those cells are stimulated, the skin starts to genuinely repair and regenerate from within.
Polynucleotide treatment involves a series of small injections into the target area. The treatment is typically delivered as a course of two to three sessions spaced several weeks apart, followed by maintenance treatments every few months. The regenerative effects build gradually over time as collagen production increases.
Most patients notice an initial improvement within a few weeks of their first session, with more significant results becoming visible after completing the full course. The skin looks visibly healthier, more even, and more youthful in a way that is difficult to pinpoint but immediately noticeable.
At SJ dental & Facial aesthetics we offer premium options including Plinest, Neucleofil, and other polynucleotide products. The most suitable product and protocol is carefully selected during your consultation based on your skin concerns, treatment area, and goals.
Patients sometimes ask whether they should have skin rejuvenation treatment or fillers, or whether one replaces the other. The honest answer is that they do different things, and many patients benefit from both. Fillers address volume and structure. Skin rejuvenation treatments address skin quality and health. If your concern is about the texture and condition of your skin rather than its shape, skin boosters or polynucleotides are likely the right starting point.
Dr Jagani will always discuss your full picture during consultation and recommend the approach that makes the most sense for your specific concerns, skin type, and goals. She does not take a one-size-fits-all approach.
Both skin booster and polynucleotide treatments are performed in-clinic and take around 30 to 45 minutes. A topical anaesthetic is applied beforehand to keep the treatment as comfortable as possible. After the treatment, you may notice mild redness, small raised points at the injection sites, or a little swelling. These effects are temporary and typically settle within 24 to 48 hours.
There is minimal downtime. Most patients return to their normal activities the same day or the next day. You will be given specific aftercare guidance before you leave.
